How I became a therapist

My journey into therapy began over 20 years ago, following a deeply personal loss.

Like many people, I carried on as best I could — outwardly coping, while internally feeling increasingly disconnected from myself. Although therapy felt like a possibility, the idea of allowing someone to truly see what I was experiencing felt difficult to face.

In 2007, I made the decision to begin therapy. What started as a way to process a single experience became something far more meaningful. Over time, it helped me understand how my past had shaped my responses, release long-held emotional weight, and reconnect with parts of myself I had kept hidden.

That process allowed me to rebuild a sense of inner strength, clarity, and direction.

It was this experience that eventually led me to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist — with the hope of offering others the same space for understanding, healing, and change.
